The Schell Lab

For the Schell Lab, I created a bold and dynamic visual identity that reflects their mission to study urban ecology and environmental justice. The centerpiece is a vibrant opening graphic, inspired by urban wildlife, graffiti, comic books, pop culture, and the stylistic energy of Into the Spider-Verse. Collaborating with animator Amelia Harvey, we brought the illustration to life, setting an engaging tone for the lab’s website.

In addition to the opening graphic, I designed the lab’s logo and a suite of project logos, each capturing the intersection of science, community, and justice. The visuals emphasize the lab’s commitment to exploring how environmental inequities in cities impact both people and wildlife.

Through dynamic branding, the Schell Lab connects their groundbreaking research on animal behavior, biodiversity, and genomics to a broader audience, inspiring action and awareness in the pursuit of equitable and thriving urban ecosystems.
